National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT)
In accordance with the State Enterprise Policy Committee (SEPC) Meeting No. 2/2562 dated on May 15, 2019, the implementation based on the organizational problem solving plan of TOT and CAT Telecom was taken into consideration, and resolved in principle approval in merger of TOT and CAT Telecom into National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT). With resolution of acknowledgement in the results of SEPC meeting by the Cabinet on August 27, and designated Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and all related departments to proceed under the aforementioned resolution, which later on December 9, 2019, MDES issued a letter to the Secretary-General of the Cabinet on such merger, for proposing to the Cabinet.
The Ministry of Finance passed a resolution to approve TOT Public Company Limited and CAT Telecom Public Company Limited to merge into one entity as proposed by the Board of Directors of TOT in reduction of redundancies in their work operations and investments, and support enhancement of asset utilization, especially from the integration of the telecommunication network. The Cabinet dated on January 14, 2020 has approved in principle for their business merger as proposed by the MDES. In this event, the two corporates shall implement their merger in compatible with any relevant laws. Adherence to such opinion of the Ministry of Finance shall be regarded as a resolution of the shareholders' meeting in accordance with Section 23 of the State Enterprise Capital Act B.E. 2542 (1999), effective hereinafter.
December 18, 2020, Mr. Buddhipongse Punnakanta, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, said that according to the Cabinet resolution, approving the merger between TOT Public Company Limited or TOT and CAT Telecom Company Limited or CAT Telecom to be National Telecom Public Company Limited (National Telecom: NT), with the registration date on January 7, 2021. After a successful implementation of merger, NT will have the integrated infrastructure in maximum solution. "NT” will become a national telecommunication company with service potential, especially, 5G and satellites, delivery of digital services across public health, agriculture and transportation segment. NT will be a collector of big data over auctionable 5G, introducing service to social sectors with effective manners, reducing redundant investments for the ultimate benefit of the people and the country.
